Camping

Camping is open in the meadow area as well as on the seawall. Numbered sites can be reserved online. See the information below for reservation information, rates, facilities, and rules. We hope you enjoy your stay with us!

NOTE: The cattle have returned from their summer vacation and are back in the campground.

 

Reservations
Lawson's Landing camping has been primarily first come, first served, but reservations are now recommended. 



Reservations are made online only and can be made at any time up to 60 days ahead. Please have your name, address, telephone number, and vehicle license numbers handy as well as your credit card. Reservations are nonrefundable but may be transferred to a future date if cancelled at least 72 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date. Notifications to transfer reservations may be made by calling (707) 878-2443 or emailing lawsonslanding@gmail.com . Transferred reservations must be used within 6 months of the original scheduled arrival date. 



The reservation system likes Internet Explorer best and needs to have pop-ups allowed. It does not yet work with touch-based operating systems like the iPhone or iPad. The new reservation system allows you to choose your own site, but choose wisely as switching isn't allowed. Group campers: The new system allows for reservations to be made one at a time only. One person will have to make multiple reservations or all the parties will need to make their own reservations. A way to book groups is forthcoming.



Hours
Overnight campers now need to have a site assigned to them. Campers entering after the entry gate has closed for the night will need to take an unoccupied campsite for the night and check in at the gate the following morning. At that time the gate attendant will assign a site for the remainder of your stay. Site availability is dependent upon existing reservations. Campers with reservations may enter and take their chosen sites. Entry booth staffing hours are:

Friday  7:00 AM to 11:00 PM

No entry after 11:00 PM.

Please be respectful of your neighbors when entering at night.

Day use may still enter at 6:00 AM by use of the envelopes on the gate.

Check-in time for campsites is between 1:00 PM and 11:00 PM and checkout is noon.

*A $1.00/day Adaptive Management fee has been added to the entry prices. This fee will help pay for enhancing the wetlands and dunes we all appreciate.
** A second car is defined as a second car and its contents located completely within a fully paid site.  A second car cannot be an RV. No reservation can be made for a second car, but reserving a site guarantees access to a first and second car. There is no third car.
Facilities
  • Water is located along the roads throughout most of the campground area.
  • Picnic tables and fire rings are scattered throughout the area.
  • Please use the designated sites.
  • Dogs on leash are allowed and there is no additional charge to bring the family pet to the beach with you. Dog owners must pick up after their dogs; waste bags are located at the front entrance and near the boathouse. Aggressive dogs and their owners will be asked to leave.
  • There are permanent rest rooms in some locations and portable toilets available in others.
  • Please note that there are no shower facilities or laundry.
  • Trash/recycling stations are located throughout the campground; two RV waste stations are available along the main campground road, one on each side, about halfway between the gate and the wharf.
  • Groceries can be purchased at the Dillon Beach Resort store, one mile north of the Landing. The Patio Cafe is open for dining on Friday, Saturday and Sundays.
Rules
  • Tread lightly: Please avoid vegetated areas and be mindful of the dunes.
  • Be respectful of wildlife. The fence along the west side of the camp area is designed to protect the endangered Snowy Plover. If a seal is encountered always stay at least 200 feet away. 
  • Camping in designated sites only. Some of the grassy meadow area that had been used for camping has been identified as coastal wetlands and is now fenced off and closed.
  • Campsites are for one vehicle only, except for second cars. A truck and travel trailer, or a motorhome with a tow car, count  as a single vehicle for this purpose. Only one (1) RV allowed in an RV site.
  • The campground will temporarily close during exceedingly wet periods, so please call (707) 878-2443 for current conditions.
  • Digging in the sand dunes is forbidden.
  • Generators may be operated from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM ONLY! Quiet time starts at 10:00 PM.
  • It is illegal to dump grey water and sewage anywhere except in the RV dump stations.
  • Vehicles usage: Vehicles are not allowed on sand dunes; ATVs and OHVs (such as Gators or Rhinos) are not allowed; electric scooters and golf carts may be used during daylight hours.
  • Possession of fireworks is against the law.
  • No burning of pallets or other wood with nails, screws or paint. 
  • Thefts can occur. Please safeguard valuables, ice chests, generators etc.
  • Checkout time is noon and check-in is 1:00 PM. 
  • BE ADVISED: Any person under the age of 21 years must be accompanied by an adult 25 years or older for camping or day use.
